It runs in the family! Drew Barrymore has been acting for quite some time, and she would be all about her daughters doing the same at the right age.

“They’re very theatrical,” the 44-year-old told Us Weekly recently of her children. “They definitely have a Barrymore gene strong within the two of them, but they’re funny and they’re cool and they’re adventurous and they love coming to set.”

The Never Been Kissed star shares daughters Olive, 6, and Frankie, 4, with her ex-husband, Will Kopelman. “I always thought the second they were born like, ‘Oh God, I don’t want you to be an actress.’ But what I really realized is that I just don’t want them to not have a childhood,” Drew explained. “If they were to go into acting in an appropriate age, I’d be, like, the most supportive, fiercest lion for it. … Now I’m like, ‘If you want to do that and go into theater in high school and do that for a living, I’m behind you.’ I just want them to have, like, a normal childhood.”

However, Drew once revealed that she wants her children to follow their own paths — both kids have their own interests. “Frankie’s really into Legos right now, which I’m really excited about because I mistakenly thought it was a boy’s toy and it turns out she’s really good at it,” she told People. “Her sister’s really good at Magna-Tiles. They’re both very good builders.”

It also doesn’t hurt that Drew’s kids love watching her act on the screen. “They love Ever After [and] 50 First Dates and it’s weird because if anyone comes over and my movie is playing I’m like, ‘I swear to God I’m not that ego jerk,'” the Santa Clarita Diet star joked to Robin Roberts during a Good Morning America interview earlier this month.

She added, “But they call it a ‘mom movie’ and they enjoy watching it and I’m proud of who I am and what I’ve done.”
