As soon as Days of our Lives introduced Liam Salejko (Hank Northrop) to the Salem scene last year, longtime fans wondered if his last name was a coincidence or if he would turn out to be related to a long-ago Salem family that we knew briefly in the 1980s.
Days of our Lives’ Liam is Ivy’s other son
When Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) detailed to Brady (Eric Martsolf) her incident with the patient who mysteriously died, explaining that she had a sister who died under similar mysterious circumstances, she told him that the sister listed Liam as her emergency contact in her medical records. Sarah then revealed her connection to Liam. His half-brother, Charlie, was her sister Melissa’s stepson at one time. And that’s when fans knew that Liam was indeed Ivy Salejko‘s son.
Way back in 1983, a teenage Melissa met a gang member named Pete (Michael Leon), whose fellow gang “brother” was Speed Salejko. Speed and Pete grew up together, with Speed’s sister, Ivy, developing a crush on Pete. Although Pete and Melissa were in love, a fight led Pete to have a one-night stand with Ivy that resulted in Charlie. Pete took responsibility for his son, but Ivy always understood that Pete loved Melissa and wanted to raise her son on her own.
Holly Gagnier, who is now the acting coach at General Hospital, played Ivy, while Robert Romanus, known for playing Mike Damone inFast Times at Ridgemont High, played Speed. If DAYS chooses to bring the rest of the family back to give Liam more backstory, there is no telling whether Ivy and Speed would be recast or not.
