‘General Hospital’ Just Changed This Longtime Character’s Status for Good
General Hospital Elizabeth Baldwin becomes an empty nester as son Aiden heads to French pastry school, following brothers Cameron and Jake off the GH canvas.
At one time, General Hospital‘s Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) had a houseful of boys to take care of, and now there are none. On the October 23rd episode of the ABC soap, Elizabeth told Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) that her youngest son, Aiden, had earned his GED, had been accepted to a French pastry school, and was moving to Europe.
This news was as much of a shock to GH fans as it was to Dante. Over the last few years, the audience has watched Elizabeth’s sons leave the canvas one by one. William Lipton chose to focus on his college studies and other career endeavors, so Cameron was sent to college in California.
Elizabeth’s middle son, Jake, is also in school in France at the Sorbonne, although Hudson West has indicated that he is open to returning to GH and it was the show’s choice to write him out.
Although Aiden has not been seen on camera since the character briefly left town to spend time with his father, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), in June of 2025, he has been spoken of and the audience knew that he still lived with Elizabeth. At the time, Aiden had been played by Colin Cassidy since September of 2024, per Soap Opera Digest.
With Aiden officially being written out of the story, some fans wonder what will happen to Elizabeth next and why her sons were all sent away from Port Charles. They are also asking why. As one fan put it on X, “All of Liz’s boys getting into their dream schools is a testament to Liz as a mother but damn it why can’t we see the Webber boys onscreen with their mom?”
In the current story, Elizabeth has been growing closer to Dante Falconeri all year, while also being involved with Ric Lansing. With all three of her sons leaving and GH turning Elizabeth into an empty nester, might Elizabeth be involved with a front-burner love story soon? Tune in to find out.
