The sudden death of Heroes star Hayden Panettiere has left both fans and colleagues of hers brokenhearted. Both Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, and father, Skip Panettiere, have released statements about their daughter’s death, and the one from Vogel has prompted a great deal of backlash. Now, Hallmark star Holly Robinson Peete has shared her take, and she did not mince words.
On August 19, Robinson Peete took to X, formerly Twitter, to blast the statement Vogel released. Vogel shared, in part, “I think Hayden sadly lost her way, and I wish it were different. I wish she had stayed true to herself because she had many incredible attributes.”

Robinson Peete wrote, “We know this young lady clearly had so many issues, but if you’re not gonna take accountability for the fact that you put her in the business that eventually messed her up then nothing you say has any integrity.”
She continued, “She didn’t even say ‘I will miss my daughter’ or ‘I loved my daughter the best way I could.’ Has she even mentioned the word daughter?”
“There were so many things she could have said to show us that she was a caring mother…And now both of her children are gone. It is all so tragic. rip Hayden,” the post concluded.
The tweet quickly received nearly 650,000 views, over 1,000 reshares, and almost 10,000 likes as fans showed their agreement with Robinson Peete’s stance.
A few of the people who responded to Robinson Peete’s post were somewhat supportive toward Vogel, noting that neither the Hallmark star nor anybody else online knew what the relationship between the mother and daughter was truly like.

One tweet supporting Robinson Peete’s comments read, “Astoundingly callous response from the woman who gave this beautiful being life! Seems her interest stopped once Hayden was no longer her cash cow…Rest in love Hayden!”
Another person noted, “If [Vogel] hadn’t been identified as Hayden’s mother, you certainly couldn’t tell she was by those comments. How cold & distant. She was the one who put her in that world & kept her working throughout her childhood.”
