General Hospital fans haven’t seen Jeff Kober bring Cyrus Renault to life (and death) in Port Charles since last December, when the character appeared in Laura’s nightmare. The character was killed off in February of 2025, marking the end of Cyrus’ five years in Port Charles, but could fans ever see Kober grace their GH screens again?

All for Cyrus’ Sister

When Kober first brought Cyrus onto the PC scene during the COVID soap era, fans were shocked to learn that he was Laura’s never-before-heard-of older half-brother, via her biological father, Gordon Grey. Laura never learned to like this brother (she did learn to love Martin), and had a contentious relationship with the criminal. And it’s Laura, aka Genie Francis, who could bring Kober’s Cyrus back.

“I love to work and I would do anything with Genie,” Kober told People. “She’s a great actress and a great scene partner. She’s someone who’ll go anywhere you want to go with them. So, if they bring me back and let me work with her, I wouldn’t mind making the drive over to Prospect Studios.”

During his time on GH, Kober developed a close working relationship with Francis, who has been embodying Laura on and off for nearly half a century.

“I would say I’m closest to her in that we both get excited when we can work together because both of us want to make it as rich as possible and find the dangerous areas of it, and see what happens there,” the actor had told People when he first exited the soap last year.

Can Cyrus even return? While fans saw Josslyn (Eden McCoy) shoot him dead, there was nobody around to take a pulse. Jack (Chris McKenna) moved the body so quickly that Cyrus could still be alive and held by the WSB somewhere. Meanwhile, Kober remains active in Hollywood and even picked up two Emmy nominations this year.

The actor has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy for his work on GH and a primetime Emmy for his work on The Pitt. The primetime Emmys will be presented on September 14, while the Daytime Emmys take place on October 30, per NATAS.
