Jenny McCarthy Compares Her Firing on ‘The View’ to Classic ‘Game of Thrones’ Red Wedding Scene

Thanks to Ramin Setoodeh’s book, Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View, we have all been learning of behind the scenes drama involving current and former cohosts of the ABC program, and Jenny McCarthy has been quite open discussing her time on the news panel, now comparing her firing to a popular scene from Game of Thrones.

The 46-year-old recently spoke of a mass firing at the The View on her SiriusXM radio show with Setoodeh. She reveals that she, Sherri Shepherd and producer Bill Geddie were all given the boot at the same time. “I love Bill. Bill is someone that I think sometimes got a really bad rap,” the TV personality said of the longtime “View” producer who was fired.

She continued, When it was — I call it the Red Wedding at The View, the day there was like 17 people let go. And then Bill and there was five other producers or something like that. It was a lot of people … I felt so bad for Sherri and Bill, my heart broke for them. But for Bill, to watch someone like that be kind of shoved out the door after creating the show with Barbara [Walters] the way they did — the way they handled pretty much anyone’s firing was, I think, unprofessional.” She added, “Terribly unprofessional.”

And The Masked Singer judge wasn’t happy that the big bosses at ABC allegedly lied to her, telling her she wouldn’t be terminated. “Towards the end of the season, I was getting other offers to do shows, so my agent said, ‘Will you let us know if this is working out, because it doesn’t feel like it is, but let us know because we want to take these other jobs,’ and they said, ‘Yeah, she’s fine, we’re going to bring her back, we love her.’ It was all a lie, it was all a lie so we wouldn’t take the next job,” she revealed.

She added, “I go, ‘I’m a single mother with a special needs kid. Not that that’s a reason to keep anybody, but to keep me away from getting other work when I have other TV offers and I turn them down is really s–tty,’ which I’ve told [them] face-to-face.”

This isn’t the first time the mother-of-one has bashed her former employer, as in Settodeh’s book she states that she wasn’t happy working there at all. “Every day I went home and I was miserable. It really was the most miserable I’ve been on a job in my 25 years of show business. I kicked myself for not taking the CBS job, of course.”

And now to ponder who Jenny would play on Game of Thrones.
