Kate Middleton Wants Meghan Markle to Be Her Newborn Son’s Royal Godmother (REPORT)

Even though Prince William and Kate Middleton's third royal baby arrived on Monday, April 23, the duo reportedly chose their newborn son's godparents months before Kate gave birth.

A trusted palace source recently told Woman's Day that Prince Harry's fiancée, Meghan Markle, was their top pick! In fact, a palace source spilled that Kate, 36, is adamant that she wants her future sister-in-law to play the important role of godmother — and we couldn't be more excited. The touching gesture came off the back of reports Meghan and Kate share a "very special friendship" and that Kate will do all she can to help Meghan join the royal family.

"They've already formed a strong sisterly bond, and it's Kate's way of showing how close they've become," the insider remarked. William and Kate take the responsibility of picking godparents very seriously — after all, they're entrusting their little ones into their care. Prince George has seven godparents. They are Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, William van Cutsem, Julia Samuel, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Zara Tindall, Earl Grosvenor, and Oliver Baker. Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte has five godparents: Sophie Carter, Laura Fellowes, Adam Middleton, James Meade, and Thomas van Straubenzee.

Kensington Palace previously confirmed Will and Kate's third baby arrived with a statement that read, "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry, and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news."

We're sure that the godmother title will surely do the trick in including Meghan into the family! We can't wait to see who else will be joining the godmother committee for the new royal baby.
