General Hospital has one of the largest soap casts around, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for more — especially if these characters are old favorites who can stir the pot in new storylines. There are currently three characters who are off the canvas who could enhance today’s stories in a big way.
Sasha Corbin Has a Quartermaine-Corinthos
When Sasha moved to France last summer to get herself and her baby away from an alleged dangerous stalker, it was due to Sofia Mattsson opting to leave the soap. While Mattsson has begun taping a mystery role on Days of our Lives, it doesn’t mean Sasha can’t return as a recast. Sasha is the mother of a legacy baby belonging to the Quartermaine clan, the Corinthos clan, and even the Scorpio clan, as she was revealed to be Tristan Rogers and Emma Samms‘ daughter.
Sasha’s return would certainly stir things up for Michael (Rory Gibson) and Jacinda (Paige Herschell). It would also give Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) a run for her money once Sasha learns it was her former best friend who kept moving her baby around the Quartermaine mansion. Plus, with Sasha’s brother, Ethan (Nathan Dean), now back in Port Charles, it could add a new dimension to both characters.
Dark Price Nikolas Cassadine
Genie Francis needs at least one of her sons on the canvas, and since one of them needs to eternally wander Europe, perhaps her jailbird son can finally be released. Nikolas is in prison after keeping a pregnant Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) in a tower, but characters have done so much worse and been pardoned. It’s about time Nikolas gets his Pentonville walking papers and returns to Port Charles.
The Cassadine clan can also use some more members in town to take Wyndemere back from Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) can’t do it alone and that old castle belongs with the Cassadines.
Give Elizabeth a Son
Currently, all three of Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) Gen Z sons are off-screen. Cameron (William Lipton) goes to college in California, Aiden is sometimes around but we don’t see him, and Jake (Hudson West) is in college in Europe. There is no reason why Jake can’t return home and be given a prominent story with the rest of the younger set. Jake even had a crush on Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) at one time, so maybe that can be explored.
Plus, when Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) returns, he should have both his sons in his life. The fractured relationship between Jason and Jake has never really been explored and now might be the time to do it.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams weeknights on Hulu.
