Nicole Kidman Finally Explained That Weird Emmys Kiss She Gave Alexander Skarsgard…

At long last, Nicole Kidman is setting the record straight about that totally weird mouth-kiss she gave Alexander Skarsgard when he recently won the Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or movie. “You are so provocative, Graham,” she laughed, when the host of The Graham Norton Show brought up a pic of the moment on Oct. 13, one month after it happened. “Why are you showing that?” she asked, embarrassed. It’s pretty obvious why he showed it — it was the most awkward moment ever! Fans watched in horror as Nicole shared a kiss with Alex while her husband Keith Urban looked on and clapped. Cringe!

“I kissed my husband, too!” she promised. “I did kiss him, because you’ve got to understand, I did everything with Alex,” she said, getting ready to explain their behind-the-scenes relationship while working on Big Little Lies, before Graham interrupted saying, “we saw it!”

Nicole realized she wasn’t going to win this battle of wits, so she gave up, saying, “alright, I’m backing off. I’ve got an amazing, supportive, gorgeous husband who I love more than anything in the world, and I gave Alex a congratulatory kiss and he’s like a mannequin.” Wait, what?

“I mean, not a mannequin!” said said, flustered. We’re pretty sure she just meant that the kiss was harmless and fans shouldn’t be worried. It makes sense, Alex played her on-screen husband and they kissed plenty on the show, so it’s really not that big of a deal. Great actors have chemistry and make you feel something, but that doesn’t mean that they truly have any romantic connection!

This isn’t the first time Nicole has done something weird at an award show. Remember back at the Oscars when she clapped with her fingers splayed out like a seal? She had an excuse for that one too! Nicole said she was wearing very expensive rings loaned to her by a designer, and she didn’t want them to bang together and risk scratching them. See? She always has a legit reason for her shenanigans!
