Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Reportedly Spending $66K to Soundproof Frogmore Cottage

In order to drown out the loud noise of airplanes flying to and from Heathrow Airport, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly spent around $66,000 to soundproof their new home at Frogmore Cottage. If that doesn’t sound outrageous, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have allegedly spent nearly a whopping $4 million to renovate their entire home the grounds of Windsor Castle.

According to those who live in the area where Meg, 37, and Harry, 34, will be raising Baby Sussex, around 14 flights pass within a mile of the house every half hour. “You do get used to it, but sometimes it’s an awful racket,” Windsor resident Karen Shawcroft recently told The Mirror. “A few people have been round to quote for that type of soundproofing, but it’s a great upheaval and is a lot of money.”

To ensure that the couple’s home is free from outside sound, residents like Shawcroft assume that Frogmore Cottage will include triple-glazed windows.

The updated residence will serve as the home for the Sussex’s once they become a family-of-three this spring. The five-bedroom home is also said to include a yoga studio — perfect for Meg — and an estimated $66,000 “green” energy unit will be able to supply electricity, heat and hot water. The royal couple is also apparently installing a satellite dish.

While she has had a seemingly smooth pregnancy, moving into their residence at Frogmore Cottage hasn’t been as easy. With just weeks to go before the former Suits actress is expected to give birth to her and Harry’s first baby, the duke and duchess have been forced to delay their move from London’s Kensington Palace thanks to a timeline snag with their new home’s extensive renovations.

The initial timeline of their move would have given the expectant parents plenty of time to get accustomed to the new place. Now, The Sun reported that the changes may have pushed back Meg and Harry’s move-in date to possibly just a few days before they welcome their little bundle of joy.

“It’s been all hands to the pump. The builders have worked all week whatever the weather. But they keep making changes, particularly on the layout,” a source close to the royals told the outlet. “The word is they’ve been quite demanding, which is understandable as what homeowner doesn’t want their house to be perfect?” We hope everything can be put together before Baby Sussex gets here!
