Soap Fans and Critics Shook by ‘Emmy-Worthy’ Daytime Crossover Disaster
Beyond the Gates episode 305 delivers an Emmy-worthy Young and the Restless crossover as a devastating tornado hits Fairmont Crest, leaving fans calling it the best episode of the season.
The cast of The Young and the Restless crossed over to Beyond the Gates for a historic crossover event that has fans saying it is the “best episode” of the season yet.
This week, the residents of Genoa City made their way to Fairmont Crest to help Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) at his political fundraiser for his congressional campaign.
While there, a tornado hit the venue head-on, causing immediate heartache for those in attendance.
Today’s episode of Beyond the Gates focused on the tornado’s aftermath.
Soap opera historian and super fan Matthew Smith took to BlueSky to share his reaction to the “Emmy” worthy episode.
“Beyond the Gates has spent almost a year and a half letting us get to know all of our key characters intimately. Now that many of them are in mortal danger, we care. A lot (at least I do). A few other soaps should take note.”
Soap journalist Dan Krollshared on X, “Today’s episode of Beyond the Gates was a 10 out of 10 for me. There was drama. You might not *liked* what happened, but there was still drama. And the production values were great. (Best tornado since the first one on #AMC.)
Meanwhile, Trin D on X shared, “I love when soaps set the right mood for a storyline. It’s not enough to have the script say “disaster” and for the set to be messy, but the production needs to match with lighting, sound mixing, wardrobe, hair and makeup, etc. Beyond the Gates did a good job with their first disaster.”
Elsewhere, soap journalist Candice Mackwrote on X, “Okay, I need to process the last two days of #BeyondTheGates because I am shook right now and the budget!!” She then asked show running Michele Val Jean, and writers Jamey Giddens and Danielle Paige to write her a note. She jokingly added, “Due to being emotional because of my first tornado in Fairmont Crest, I can’t come to work tomorrow.”
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS with episodes streaming weeknights on Paramount+.
Viewers can catch up on all of the drama from Fairmount Crest from the beginning of the series on Paramount+ or for free on Pluto TV’s dedicated 24/7 Beyond the Gates FAST channel.
