There’s a new girl in town and Steve Harvey has something to say about it! Apparently, the TV personality’s talk show, Steve, may be coming to an end because of Kelly Clarkson. At the Variety Entertainment Summit on Wednesday, Jan. 9, Steve, 61, admitted he’s not sure if he’ll be staying with the network once the American Idol winner’s show officially kicks off.

When asked if Steve would be returning after its 2018-2019 season, he replied, “I thought I was, until they made an announcement a couple weeks ago that they wanted to give Kelly Clarkson the owned-and-operated NBC networks — that’s my slot.” He continued, “I don’t know if it sold, it’s not selling like they thought, but I thought it would have been nice of them to come to me — as the only dude who’s survived [in daytime TV] for seven years — about it. So when you do that, I gotta make announcements too. I’m working. It will be something real cute.”

Steve admitted that he was upset with how this situation was handled. “You know, I’m an honorable guy,” he said. “I’m just an old school guy, and I just thought that you’re supposed to just talk to people and just go, ‘Look, you’ve been good business for us. This is what we’re thinking of doing, are you OK with that?’ No, you just don’t put something in the paper and say, ‘I’m just going to make this move right here,’ because it’s crazy.”

In September, it was revealed that The Kelly Clarkson Show — set to air in the fall of 2019 — might be taking over Steve’s 2 p.m. EST time slot. “I love connecting with people, playing games, music, and finding ways to help or give back to communities/organizations,” Kelly, 36, said of her upcoming hour-long eponymous show, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Having my own talk show where I get to do all of these things is pretty much a dream job!”

“We are very excited to have Kelly Clarkson on our air next fall,” said Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations, via THR. “She’s genuine, warm, fun and interacts with her fans in a meaningful way. Throughout her career people of all ages and backgrounds have related to her openness, honesty, and curiosity. She will be the perfect companion to Ellen, providing an afternoon of great television.” We can’t wait to watch!
