‘The Bold and the Beautiful’s’ Kelly Sullivan Reveals New Details About Dylan’s Past
Kelly Sullivan debuts as Darcy on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ Dylan’s free-spirited mom whose backstory reveals a single-parent past and complicated mother-daughter bond.
The Bold and the Beautiful’s Katie (Heather Tom) wants to know all about Dylan (Sydney Bullock), so she is about to get an earful in the form of Dylan’s mother. She demanded to meet her, so Dylan called her mom and invited her to Los Angeles, which marked Kelly Sullivan‘s debut on the CBS soap.

Sullivan, who is no stranger to soaps, having played Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri on General Hospital and Sage Warner on The Young and the Restless, couldn’t wait to sink her teeth into Darcy Dylan, the brand-new character who gave fans free spirit artist, Melissa Dylan, known to most as just…Dylan.
“On the first page, I said, ‘Yeah, I definitely, definitely, want to audition for this,'” Sullivan said in an interview with TV Insider. “For me, it’s always the character. I just love her. She’s a spitfire. She’s just like, ‘Here I am,’ and I think there’s a really fun freedom to play characters like that. You can sort of live vicariously through them.”
After Katie once again accused Dylan of having an agenda and only being after Will (Crew Morrow) for his family name and money, she told Dylan that she wanted to meet her mother, hoping the woman could give her some insight into this girl she doesn’t trust.
B&B fans have also wanted more insight into Dylan ever since Bullock began playing her last summer. The preschool art teacher who Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) held captive, and who ended up accidentally killing Luna months later, has taken the soap’s Gen Z team by storm, but fans know curiously little about her. That’s all about to change.
Sullivan described both Darcy and Dylan’s back story, revealing that Dylan’s dad left when she was young and was raised by a single mom who moved them around a lot.
“Darcy raised her to be a very independent, confident woman, and it wasn’t always easy,” Sullivan said. “She was Darcy’s whole life, and she moved away when she was 18, so Darcy’s relationship with her over the past few years hasn’t been as close as she would have liked.”
