This Pint-Sized ‘General Hospital’ Star Takes a Port Charles Break for Taylor Swift and Toys
‘General Hospital’ star Scarlett Spears voices Bonnie in ‘Toy Story 5’ while continuing her role as Donna Corinthos, and met Taylor Swift at the film’s premiere.
Fresh off her turn in Wicked: For Good last fall as Young Glinda, General Hospital star Scarlett Spears is making yet another splash on the big screen. This time, the delightful and talented young actress stars in Toy Story 5 as Bonnie, the young toy owner who enters the digital age when she’s gifted a tablet called Lilypad.
General Hospital’s Donna Gets Animated
Spears, who turned nine years old on June 12th, has been bringing Donna Corinthos to life on GH since 2022. The precocious daughter of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), Spears never fails to put a smile on fans’ faces whenever she makes an appearance. She was also all smiles at the Toy Story 5 red carpet premiere last week when she met Taylor Swift, who sings the original song, “I Knew It, I Knew You”, in the film, as you can see in her Instagram post.
“I was so excited to meet Taylor Swift!” Spears said in an interview with TV Insider. “She is so nice. She is one of my favorite singers, and it’s just so amazing that I actually got to meet her! I don’t remember exactly what I said, but I know I was so surprised and so happy.”
After also working on the movie version of Dora the Explorer in Dora and the Search for Sol Dorodo, Spears had a different kind of experience working on a Disney Pixar film.

“Playing Bonnie was very different than playing Donna,” she said. “For Bonnie, I had to go into the studio and wear headsets to record my lines. I had to speak into a microphone in a recording booth. They had cereal and snacks for me — as much as I wanted — which was fun.”
Just because Spears is becoming a big screen sensation, it doesn’t mean she’s giving up her life on a soap opera. And her very favorite co-star? Why, the Emmy-winning actor who plays her dad, of course. “His name is Sonny, but his real name is Maurice [Benard]!” she said. “We have a lot of fun together. We like to dance and goof around, but we do know when to be serious on set, too”
