Wendy Williams Files for Divorce From Husband Kevin Hunter After More Than 21 Years of Marriage

Say it isn’t so. Wendy Williams filed for divorce from husband Kevin Hunter after more than 21 years of marriage on April 10, sources confirm to Closer Weekly. Papers were served on April 11. 

“Thank you to everyone for respecting the family’s privacy during this time. Kevin is supportive of Wendy and they are working through this process together,” says the personal representative for the talk show host. “No additional comment will be provided at this time.”

After the initial news broke that she was filing for divorce, the production company behind Wendy’s hit show, The Wendy Williams Show, spoke out about the heartbreaking news. “Wendy and her family have been a part of Debmar-Mercury for over 10 years. We respect their privacy regarding personal matters. As always, we remain committed to bringing an entertaining and topical show to our viewers,” the statement to Closer Weekly reads.

Wendy recently revealed she was living in a sober house to get her past addiction struggles under control. “Well, for some time now — and even today and beyond — I have been living in a sober house. You know I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in my past. I never went to a place to get the treatment. I don’t know how, except God was sitting on my shoulder,” the 54-year-old said. “I want you to know more of the story. So, this is my autobiographical story and I’m living it.”

“It is a family process,” Kevin — who shares a 19-year-old son, Kevin Hunter Jr., with Wendy — told Entertainment Tonight. “Anybody that has to deal with this knows this a family process … and we are dealing with it. We’re doing well as a family. We are moving forward with working on her sobriety and doing the work to help others, not just ourselves.”

Wendy and Kevin were married on November 30, 1997. Throughout the years, these two have weathered many relationship ups and downs. Recently, the New Jersey native brushed off rumors of a split during an episode of her show. “I am still wearing my ring,” she said at the time. “We know each other. He is my best friend, my lover, he’s all this, and he’s all that.”
