What You Need to Know About ‘Days of our Lives’ Newcomer Brandon Butler

Days of our Lives‘ Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) is about to meet a new classmate who will add some drama to her sophomore year at Salem University. Brandon Butler makes his debut on the Peacock soap on Tuesday, September 1, as Mason Whitfield, a young man Holly runs into in Horton Town Square.

DAYS recently announced this casting news with an Instagram video.

“Get to know Brandon Butler, who will be playing Mason Whitfield! Here are five fun facts about the newest addition to the Days of our Lives cast before his first episode on September 1,” the caption wrote. In the video, Butler offers some info on himself, including the fact that he was once featured on a McDonald’s Happy Meal poster for the game Duel Masters.

Butler made sure to let the audience know that he’s been watching DAYS for years, as it’s his mother’s favorite show. “This one’s for you, Mom,” he said.

Butler is also not a complete newcomer to DAYS. In 2025, he played a grown Zack Brady when Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) hovered between life and death last year. Zack, of course, was Bo and Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) son who was run down by a car as a small child. Zack’s spirit, as played by Butler, convinced Bo that he had more living to do.

According to IMDb, the Illinois native has also appeared in a variety of other television shows, including 13 Reasons Why, SEAL Team, Ring of Silence, and Hysteria. In 2016, he even appeared on one episode of General Hospital as a frat boy.

While there is very little info available about Butler’s latest Salem character, this week’s DAYS promo features him hearing Holly’s name for the first time and becoming intrigued. Does Mason Whitfield know Holly or know of her? And will he be competition for Tate Black (Leo Howard)?
