15 Years Later, Fans Can’t Stop Talking About ‘General Hospital’s’ Famous Chinese Restaurant Wedding
‘General Hospital’ fans celebrate Jason and Sam’s 15th Noodle Buddha wedding anniversary, reflecting on their iconic elopement and the beloved ‘Jasam’ supercouple legacy.
On a day when General Hospital’s Jason (Steve Burton) admitted how hard it was to parent a teenager, noting that his beloved late Sam (Kelly Monaco) did all the grunt work for years, fans of the ABC soap are celebrating the day Jason and Sam got married in a very non-soap-like wedding they’ll never forget.
Jason Morgan and Sam McCall were all set to wed in an elaborate ceremony preceding an equally elaborate reception planned by Port Charles’ ultimate party planner, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). However, Jason and Sam were not the fancy wedding type, so they decided to ditch their guests and let all of Maxie’s work go to waste and elope.
The night before their ceremony, Jason and Sam were feeling antsy, so they took off on his motorcycle and ended up at a Chinese restaurant called The Noodle Buddha. As fate would have it, the owners of the restaurant had been married for 50 years and regaled the engaged couple with tales of wedded bliss. When Jason and Sam learned that their son was an ordained minister, they decided to get married right then and there. Jason felt they could deal with their guests later.
A year later, after Sam had given birth to Danny, Jason was presumed dead after a mob shooting on Pier 55. After Jason returned, very much alive, in 2018, Jason and Sam gave things another try, but ultimately ended their relationship for good in 2021. Sam passed in 2024, leaving Jason to raise Danny on his own, but ‘Jasam’ fans remember and look back on their Noodle Buddha wedding fondly.
“The Dragon and the Phoenix. Their chemistry was unmatched and they will always be one of the greatest supercouples in daytime history,” one fan wrote on X, marking Jason and Sam’s 15th anniversary.
“My couple got married at a Chinese restaurant in black T-shirts and still has a top five wedding in General Hospital history. That’s iconic and that’s a super couple,” another audience member tweeted.
“Such a sweet day. I loved their wedding. Perfect for #JaSam. I miss them,” another fan said.
One fan summed things up simply, writing, “The perfect wedding for the perfect couple! We need this magic back!”
