Celine Dion Remembers Late Husband Rene Angelil on the 4th Anniversary of His Death: ‘We Miss You’

Not a day goes by that Céline Dion doesn’t think about her late husband, René Angélil. René died in January 2016 from a heart attack at age 73 and the 51-year-old singer hasn’t remarried since. However, she does pay tribute to him every now and then, recently doing so on the fourth anniversary of his death.

“There is not a day that goes by without me thinking about your beautiful smile. We miss you, thank you for watching over us my love. I love you. Céline xx … ,” she wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, January 14.

After seeing that, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer’s friend Katie Couric wrote a sweet note in the comments section. It read, “Thinking of you missing him and sending love. ❤️.”

If there’s anyone who knows what Céline is going through, it’s definitely Katie. In 1998, the 63-year-old journalist lost her first husband, Jay Monahan, to colon cancer. She recently paid tribute to him on Thursday, January 9, when she shared a few throwback pics of the late businessman to Instagram.

“Jay, we love you and miss you every day,” Katie wrote. “On this day, we celebrate what would have been your 64th birthday. ❤️ You completed our January trifecta of bdays … the 5th, the 7th and the 9th. There must be something cosmic about that. You live on in your girls and in our hearts.”

Even though Katie went on to find love with her second husband, John Molner, Céline has yet to tie the knot again. In fact, she previously told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live she’s still in love with René.

“I don’t date, I don’t have a boyfriend and, you know, it doesn’t mean that I will not find someone in my life,” the “Power of Love” singer said. “If I do, that would be great. If I don’t, that will be great, because I’m still in love.”

“I mean once you’re in love so much, you know, I’ve been living all my life with René is still within me,” she continued. “I see him through the eyes of my children every day.”

Céline shares her 18-year-old son, René-Charles, and her 9-year-old twin sons, Nelson and Eddy, with her late soulmate. Even though René isn’t around anymore, his legacy still lives on in his children.
