‘General Hospital’ Brings Back an Old Favorite After an Unexpected Break
‘General Hospital’ fans rejoice as Cynthia Watros returns as Nina Reeves after a month in prison, while suspicion shifts to Ava Jerome in the Jack Brennan case.
General Hospital fans haven’t seen Cynthia Watros‘ Nina Reeves in over a month, as the character has been languishing in an international prison for a crime she didn’t commit. When Nina was arrested, fans expected to see a big fight to have her released. Instead, Watros has been off-screen and Nina has barely been mentioned.
According to the latest GH preview video ABC released on October 26th, Nina will be back on screen this week, and the agent who arrested her will issue an apology, telling her that he may have jumped the gun when he placed her in cuffs. Agent Baines (Alimi Ballard) followed the evidence when investigating Jack Brennan’s (Chris McKenna) disappearance, which led him straight to Nina, the woman he was involved with and who had his wallet hidden under the seat of her car.
Suspicion will now fall on Nina’s BFF, Ava Jerome (Maura West), who has kept quiet all this time, knowing that Nina was innocent. And she only knows Nina was innocent because she was the one who found drugged Jack early in the evening and later found his dead body floating in the pool. She then helped Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) bury the body and was aware that he planted the wallet in Nina’s car.

Watros has been a regular part of the GH scene since 2019, when she took over the role of Nina from Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, The Young and the Restless), who originated the part in 2014. Her most famous soap role prior was Annie Dutton on Guiding Light, but she also played Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless and had prominent primetime roles on Lost and The Drew Carey Show, per IMDb.
When fans saw Nina featured in this week’s GH promo, many were surprised and delighted. As one fan put it, “Nice to see Nina still exists,” while another tweeted, “Finally! Nina is back!!
