Céline Dion Reveals How She Told Her Kids About Their Father René Angélil’s Death
Céline Dion is one strong mother.
The 48-year-old star opened up in a new interview about how she told her three kids, sons René-Charles, 15, and twins Nelson and Eddy, both 5, about the death of her husband and their father, René Angélil — and her story is both heartbreaking and uplifting.
"I said, 'Do you remember the movie Up?' It's one of our favorites," Céline said during a new Good Morning America interview. "I said, you know, today, Papa went up. Because Papa was very sick. Up is is a good thing. Up is uplifting. We're going to celebrate this right now because Papa is no longer in pain."
René sadly died in January at age 73 after a long battle with cancer.

After the family blew pixie dust and released balloons for the late music producer, Celiné continued to explain René's passing to her young children. “Papa was very sick. He didn't have a sore throat. He did not have a bellyache. He did not have an earache. Do you remember Papa had a tube in his belly? Do you have a tube in your belly? Do you? I don't. That's really, really, really, really, really sick," she said.
The "My Heart Will Go On" singer previously opened up about staying positive for the couple's sons following their tragic loss. "I really, really want to prove to my kids their mother is strong," she said. You're doing just that, Céline!
