As loyal Days of Our Lives fans know, in 2022 the daytime drama ended its 57-year run on broadcast TV and moved to NBC’s streaming service. That left a Peacock subscription the only way to view the show.
While the transition was a shock initially, Days viewers can now enjoy streaming their favorite soap 24-7. But, of course, this comes at a cost. And now it looks like everyone will have to pay more just to see what’s going on in Salem.

Peacock recently announced plans to increase prices effective immediately (as of Aug 18, with the change appearing on bills on or after September 17). Subscribers can expect new pricing at all plan levels, including: Select Monthly ($7.99 to $8.99), Premium Monthly ($10.99 to $12.99), Premium Plus Monthly ($16.99 to $19.99), Select Annual ($79.99 to $89.99), Premium Annual ($109.99 to $129.99), and Premium Plus Annual ($169.99 to $199.99).
Days of Our Lives fans immediately took to social media to weigh in on the news of the price change. One viewer complained on X, “If @peacock actually cared about Days of Our Lives, have the show the budget it needs for better sets, cameras, background actors and enough time to tell proper stories, I wouldn’t mind paying more. If the money actually showed on screen, the higher price would be worth it.”
Others added (also on X), “Honestly if they need money then let people pay to stream the classic storylines! That would bring in a ton!”, “Eventually it will cost too much to those who pay to watch just Days of Our Lives…I recall reading if it stayed on NBC it would have been canceled by now,” and “Time to move back to NBC for one final year and go out with a bang! Blow the budget out, bring back everyone, because the fans and Days deserve it!
Long-time followers lamented what they feel is a downhill slide in the years since the NBC-to-Peacock transition, posting on X, “Days has gotten worse since it moved to Peacock…It is embarrassing and so disrespectful to the memory of this once great, Emmy award winning show,” and “I started watching it in the 80’s as a kid. I only watched for about a month after it went to streaming.”
This is the fourth price increase for Peacock subscribers in the past four years. Of course, Peacock isn’t the only streaming service to raise rates. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Paramount+ have also made pricing changes in 2026.
