Fans Predict the Plot for Jason Morgan’s ‘General Hospital’ Return
Steve Burton returns as Jason Morgan on ‘General Hospital’ July 13. Fans speculate on big changes ahead for Jason after Burton hints at a new direction on his podcast.
It won’t be long now until Steve Burton brings Jason Morgan back to General Hospital after a multi-month hiatus from the show. Burton took a break to focus on his new marriage, but will be back on screen on July 13th after not being seen since the end of March. Fans have been told to expect some changes when we next see Jason, with speculation running rampant about what those changes will be.
A Brand-New Jason Morgan?
On the latest episode of his podcast, That’s Awesome, Burton dropped some hints on what the audience might see when he makes his big Port Charles comeback.
“Been a lot going on. Had a lot of good scenes. And it’s good, man,” Burton said. “We’re shifting directions a little bit, which is gonna be interesting for fans, so get ready…I think [the writers] did a really good job. It’s really giving me something to play, which is nice. It’s gonna be interesting. It’s shaking things up, which is gonna be a lot of fun.”
Those statements quickly got fans talking. When we last saw Jason, he had tears in his eyes as he watched his son, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), beg the WSB not to take Jason away for shooting Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). Jason was taking the fall for teenage Rocco (Finn Carr) pulling the trigger, but he couldn’t let Danny know that. Jason also had a hard time pulling the trigger earlier that day when he had a chance to kill Cullum himself, which makes some fans think he might leave his mob life behind.
ABC/Disney
“I think he’s going towards the Qs side of the canvas,” one fan said on X. “He’s gonna see the mess his son is in and decide to finally focus on him and a safer life. I think he also is gonna see the mess Britt made of Rocco’s life and indirectly Danny’s and step away.”
Another fan thinks Jason might switch sides and join a law enforcement agency, albeit a crooked one, writing, “Since Steve looks excited about it, I think there will still be something with the WSB on top of what you mentioned. He likes doing action stuff so I don’t think he’s going ELQ/Aurora direction like some say.”
Other fans hope to see him with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), a woman who already has two suitors in Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Ric (Rick Hearst)., with one saying, “I’d love to see them #BringBackJake and give us #Liason in a #LiasonReunion. I’m a sucker for the Jason and Tracy scenes as well.”
There is another contingent of fans who do not see any change sticking, summing things up this way: “Been watching the show for the entire time he’s been the main protagonist. I don’t care if Jason takes the Q name back, grows out a golden mullet, and reads bedtime stories to kids. He’s back in leather by Sonny’s side by Thanksgiving. I was born, but I wasn’t born yesterday.”
