After 7 Years, This ‘General Hospital’ Star Celebrates a Major Port Charles Milestone

Sometimes it’s hard to believe that Cynthia Watros didn’t originate the role of Nina Reeves on General Hospital, but she’s certainly made it her own since 2019. On June 17, 2026, Watros celebrated seven years of bringing the sometimes scheming and often quirky heiress to life.
Seven Years of Cynthia Watros’ Nina
The character of Nina Clay first entered the Port Charles scene in 2024 with The Young and the Restless’ Michelle Stafford playing a woman who had just awoken from a coma after 20 years. Stafford’s Nina suffered a psychotic break upon learning she lost the child she was pregnant with while in the coma and that her mother was the one who put her in that state.
Since then, Nina has forged a life for herself as the editor of Crimson Magazine and learned she was actually pregnant with twins and both of them had lived. Nina’s mother, Madeline (Donna Mills), had given each girl away to separate adoptive parents. One daughter, Nelle (Chloe Lanier), died in 2021, but the other, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), drives Nina to want to drink every single day. Nina has also had multiple failed marriages, including with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Currently, Nina is single, but has become quite flirty with WSB station chief Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), so some think a romance might be on the horizon for the two characters.
Watros, who made a soap opera name for herself playing crazy Annie Dutton on Guiding Light and also had prominent roles on The Drew Carey Show and Lost, per IMDb, has become beloved by fans, who paid tribute to her on her seventh anniversary on GH.
