‘General Hospital’s Steve Burton Teases Big-Name Recast Coming to Port Charles
Steve Burton hints at a major ‘General Hospital’ recast coming soon. Find out which character could be returning with a new face and what clues Burton revealed.
General Hospital has added quite a few new faces to the canvas over the last few months in new roles, but now Steve Burton has hinted that we’re about to see a new face in an old role — and that face might be a familiar one.
New Recast to Soon Air
On the most recent episode of their podcast, That’s Awesome, Burton and co-host Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) discussed the challenges that recasts face when they take over a longtime role. They have to know the character’s history and make sense of dialogue the audience instinctively understands from years of consistent viewing.
The topic prompted Burton to mention some scenes he recently had with a new actor taking on an old role, but he remained cryptic about who the actor is and which character he will be playing.
“So, there’s a guy on the show right now who’s come on the show, and you guys will see him,” Burton began. “He may have aired. I’m not sure, but I had some scenes with him, and I can’t say what it is yet. But I said, ‘Do you know exactly what’s happening?’ Because there was, you know, his decision-making in the scene had to do with events that have happened in history with some characters.”
As of now, no scenes have aired of Burton with an important recast character, but the actor wasn’t finished dropping clues, indicating the actor he was working with is well known.
“He’s been an actor for a long, long time. He’s been on some prime time shows. He’s done this a long time. So I said, ‘Do you mind if I just tell you kind of, you know, what this is, who this is, why they’re doing it, and what the involvement for me is?’ … So, um, once he airs, we can talk about that more if we remember. But, it’s important. Knowing the history is important.”
Burton’s remarks immediately sparked speculation on what character would be recast, with many fans believing we might see a new Jasper Jacks or Jerry Jacks sometime soon, especially with Josslyn (Eden McCoy) now taking over at CEO for Jasper Jacks Enterprises. The characters were previously played by Ingo Rademacher and Sebastian Roche, respectively. Are the Jacks brothers on their way back to GH? Tune in to find out.
