Wow! The cast of Grey’s Anatomy recently celebrated the show’s 300th episode with a super fun party — and now its already set to premiere on Thursday, Nov. 9! Honestly, we just can’t believe the medical drama has already been on for that long…

Some of the cast members have opened up about the show reaching this big milestone, and just like us, they were majorly shocked that the series has come this far! “I remember, I started in the cast. I had just come here from Scotland, pretty new to town. My character started, and about four episodes into me starting, in season five, it was the 100th episode celebration,” Kevin McKidd (who plays Owen Hunt) confessed to E! News. “And I was like, ‘How do you get to 100 episodes? How does that even happen?’ In Britain, we do seasons of five episodes and that’s it… So to stand here at 300, after that, it’s unbelievable.”

James Pickens (who plays Richard Weber) added, “I’m truly one of those blessed numbers. Most actors will go their whole career and will never experience this. You’ll never see this again. 300 episodes, you won’t see that anymore. Not with the new platforms and streaming and stuff. That’s the way the business model is. This is truly historical.”

Miranda Bailey (played by Chandra Wilson) couldn’t contain her excitement, either! “Firstly, when I see 300, I think history because that makes me really excited to be a part of television history. I see barriers being broken down,” she said. “I see starting off when it was very necessary to be in front of the TV that night when it came to vs. DVR’ing it. Television viewing is so different today than it was. We’ve ridden all of those waves. There weren’t box sets when we first started,” she explained. “We just keep riding with every little wave that shows up. We’re right in the middle of that. So I’m proud of us. We are the little engine that always could and can and will.”

In a previous interview, ABC Chief Channing Dungey revealed the show may never end after sharing that she’d love to beat ER, which lasted 15 seasons. “I’ll take even more! Honestly, I think that the show is going to continue as long as [the show’s writer Shonda Rhimes] and the gang have a creative passion for telling those stories. At the moment, it feels like we’re full steam ahead,” she said.

“What Shonda and the team at Grey’s have really been able to do over time is continue to bring in new characters that give the series additional life and energy while remaining true to the core cast of characters,” Dungey continued of the show that’s been on television screens everywhere since 2005. “When I’ve been looking at the fan feedback and reaction from this season, people are more interested than ever in the relationship between Meredith and Alex [Justin Chambers], and these are two characters that have been around since Season 1. But we’re now experiencing them in a totally different way than we have before. That’s just what the writers do so well; they continually peel back new layers of these characters that we get to expand and explore.”

And Shonda has loved being part of Grey’s in every way. “I don’t think I ever imagined we’d be here 300 episodes later. When we hit 100, I was shocked and surprised. When we hit 50, I was shocked and surprised,” she said. “I’m continuously amazed at the fans and how into the show that they are and how loyal they’ve been. Even when they’re mad, they’re still there the next week to tell me how mad they are and how mad they’re going to be next week. And I love that because that means they’re passionate and they care.” Here’s to 300 more episodes of Grey’s Anatomy!
