Céline Dion Admits She Never ‘Felt Confident Beauty-Wise’ After Landing Her First-Ever Beauty Contract at 51

It looks like Céline Dion will be adding a new title to her impressive resume! The “My Heart Will Go On” singer — who just signed her first-ever beauty contract — recently opened up about being L’Oréal Paris’ newest global ambassador when she shared her exciting news earlier this week.

“I’m in shock, actually. I never, never expected something like this,” the 51-year-old gushed to People for this week’s cover story. “I never really felt confident beauty-wise.” However, the timing could not have been any more perfect for the Grammy Award-winning singer. “[But now], I’ve never felt as beautiful, as strong, and I really think that the best is yet to come.”

Keeping a positive mindset after the devastating loss of her husband of 21 years, René Angélil, wasn’t always easy for Céline. Following the death of the Canadian music producer in January 2016, “The Power of Love” singer revealed that the struggles she went through only made her more resilient. “All the little things in life, and the big things, they have to make you stronger,” Céline said, “Otherwise, you don’t understand the meaning of life itself.”

As she prepares to open this new chapter in her book with L’Oréal, Céline will also be gearing up to give her final bow as she is set to close out her long-running Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace this summer. With her final show on June 8 quickly approaching, the blonde beauty admitted that her newfound fortitude has given her the strength to take on new passions including playing around with her style.

“I love fashion,” the Canada native gushed, adding that her dancer and close friend Pepe Muñoz helps her choose bold looks that reflect “how I feel inside.” Even though online critics are quick to bash Céline for her slim figure, the “Because You Loved Me” songstress admitted that internet trolls are one of the reasons behind her inspiration to team up with the French cosmetics company.

“This is about confidence,” she gushed about teaming up with the brand. And when it comes to helping promote L’Oréal’s Hair Excellence color line as well as other various cosmetic products, Céline said, “beauty is within, but when you can reflect it in the mirror, you’re ready to hit the world.” And discovering her confidence has only made Céline stronger. “I am now embracing myself and feel free to do what I want, where I want, when I want.”
