Usually, people can’t wait to retire. But not Michael Douglas! The 74-year-old actor has shown no signs of slowing down, especially after working on his latest new comedy show. The beloved actor gushes that working in his 70s has been a very joyful time in his life. “I love what I’m doing,” he says, according to Express.

In his Netflix comedy The Kominsky Method, Michael plays the role of a former star turned acting coach. “This is actually probably the most joyful time for me, the realization that you can be doing this for the rest of your life,” Michael dishes. “I’m planning on it. So, this is the time of your life when you really appreciate being an actor.”

In fact, Michael has a specific appreciation for still being able to act. “Here’s a chance to play some comedy,” he says, “which I don’t normally get a chance to do that often.” This role opened a lot of doors for the actor, who was able to experience things for the first time in his career.

“So it was a great opportunity and sort of been my year between doing green screen [visual effects] movies, which I’d never done in my life before and now having a chance to do a series like this has been really a treat,” Michael dishes. Plus, it isn’t just the show that he loves them so much, it’s the way you get to watch it, too! “So I love this medium [Netflix], this came along, this streaming possibility,” Michael admits.

The Douglas’ must have been bitten by an acting bug considering Michael reveals that all of his children want to follow in his footsteps. “Right now, all three of my kids want to be actors — Cameron, Dylan, and Carys, and my niece, Kelsey,” Michael told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his new Netflix series, The Kominsky Method. “So that’s four of the next dynasty. Dad and I got about 120 years and about 130 movies, so it will be more and we just got a grandchild — little granddaughter Lua.”

Well, it looks like the Douglas legacy will live on for a very long time!
