It seems like just yesterday when Kensington Palace announced Duchess Kate (née Middleton) was pregnant and having her first child, Prince George, with husband Prince William. The little guy has grown up so much through the years, and all of his adorable moments have been caught on camera — including the funny ones.

Who could forget the time William’s oldest son pressed his face against a plane’s window during the family’s 2016 royal tour of Canada? The moment was so cute, the paparazzi couldn’t help but snap a photo of George’s smushed face.

Then, when the future King of England attended the annual Trooping the Colour parade in 2017, he looked so unenthused standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with his parents. Although the event is supposed to be a fun celebration for Queen Elizabeth‘s birthday, George looked like he would rather be playing outside — ha!

George has certainly done a good job entertaining royal fans with his LOL-worthy antics, which doesn’t come as a surprise considering he’s an “outgoing and cheeky” young boy, an insider exclusively told Closer ahead of his 8th birthday on July 22. The source revealed George is similar to Kate in the sense that they’re both “sensitive,” but he’s “protective and a confident decision-maker” like William.

Throughout the last year, the blond-haired cutie has “blossomed” so much, the source pointed out, noting he has a “broad” array of interests such as “gardening, science, nature, photography, cooking, learning languages, cars and planes.” In addition to “anything sports-related,” George is also a “straight-A student” and “loves” school.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge know their eldest son will take the throne as the British monarch one day, but they want George to enjoy his childhood while he can. That’s why they “try not to overwhelm him with too many details about his future.”

However, Kate and William — who wed in 2011 and also share kids Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis —”feel more than confident that he’ll be a great king one day,” the source added. “Kate and William are beyond proud of George and say they’re lucky to have such a cute and loving son.”

Even though George is getting older by the day, it’s hard to forget all the times he’s made us laugh over the years.
