Princess Eugenie Is Now Incorporating Jack Brooksbank’s Last Name Into Her Own in the Sweetest Way

From now on, you may refer to Princess Eugenie by her new married name! Eight months after she tied to the knot to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018, the Princess of York is now incorporating her husband’s last name into her own in the sweetest way possible.

Instead of becoming “Eugenie Brooksbank,” the 29-year-old royal is using Jack’s name in a more untraditional way — and we’re obsessed! According to the Court Circular, the official record of past royal engagements, Eugenie is now being referred to as “Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank.” Aww!

Royal fans are just picking up on Eugenie’s new name, considering she was just referred to as simply “Princess Eugenie” by the Court Circular for the Maundy Service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in April. In March, she was also referenced as “Princess Eugenie of York” for a visit to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital — which happened to be Jack’s first-ever royal engagement.

In the past, Queen Elizabeth has typically granted royal titles to the new Mr. and Mrs. on their wedding day. In May 2018, the 93-year-old monarch granted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Similarly, Prince William and Kate Middleton were named the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the time of their 2011 wedding.

However, Jack, 29, did not and will not be receiving a royal title from Eugenie’s grandmother. According to the BBC, Eugenie “will keep her royal title when she marries Mr. Brooksbank,” but she will have the “option” to take his last name.

Since tying the knot, Eugenie and Jack look happier than ever. In May, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson‘s daughter took to Instagram to share the cutest pic in honor of her husband’s birthday. “Happy Birthday to you, my one and only Jack,” Eugenie captioned the sweet selfie of him. “You are one of a kind and totally extraordinary. Nine birthdays and counting … to quote you from a few months ago, ‘you light up my life.'” So sweet!
