He just added another half billion dollars to his record-breaking lifetime box-office total of more than $13 billion thanks to Captain Marvel’s blockbuster opening week. So how long until Samuel L. Jackson retires?

“Till I can’t do it,” the 70-year-old star recently told the Associated Press. “Michael Caine’s still acting, right? It’s acting. It’s not like I’m digging a ditch. I go on set, do some s–t. I go back and sit in my trailer for two hours and watch TV, eat a sandwich, read. And I go back and do 10 more minutes and go sit down some more. So, yeah it’s a great job.”

Over the years, he’s learned what’s really important to him in life. “I talk more to my wife and daughter than I used to,” he said in a recently interview with Esquire of 69-year-old actress LaTanya Richardson Jackson, his wife since 1980, and their TV producer daughter, Zoe Jackson, 37. “I’m getting better at talking to them about their lives and what they are doing and how they feel.” And that’s no pulp fiction!

Samuel has made so many popular movies that the The Hollywood Reporter started to call him “Hollywood’s most bankable star.” His director in Glass, M. Night Shyamalan, recently told the news outlet that Samuel “genuinely loves to entertain people [and] it’s something he finds great pride in.” He also referred to this as Samuel’s “superpower.”

“I’ve never understood that whole ‘I want to do two movies a year’ thing,” Samuel also shared with Esquire. “I used to go to movies to forget my f–king troubles. I used to go to movies to enjoy myself, to get out of my segregated f–king life, to see what the world was like, to travel. I want people to come, smile, laugh, leave that movie going, ‘Man, that was awesome.'”
