During a Thursday, May 21, appearance on CNN Podcasts’ All There Is with Anderson Cooper, the Today cohost, 48, revealed that she looked toJacqueline Kennedy and Coretta Scott King for guidance after Ojeh died in May 2025 at the age of 45 following a private battle with glioblastoma.
“I found videos of Jackie Kennedy,” Jones shared during the emotional interview. “Oh my God, how did she — she looks like she has so much grace and poise.”
Jones explained that grieving publicly left her searching for examples of women who endured unimaginable loss while remaining composed in the public eye.
“Every time I closed my eyes and I pictured those women, they always had such grace,” she said of Kennedy and Coretta Scott King.

Maria Shriver — whom Jones called one of her “TV aunties” and part of her “Mount Rushmore” — has also helped guide her through the grieving process. Shriver, the niece of late President John F. Kennedy and Jackie, was just 8 years old when JFK was assassinated in 1963.
According to Jones, Shriver reminded her, “You can only be you.”
Otherwise, the TV personality admitted she struggled to find resources that spoke to her experience as a widow and mother.
“There aren’t a lot of resources and conversations,” Jones explained, adding that she went to Google and YouTube with the search phrase “Black widow” and was only shown images of spiders.
Jones and Ojeh shared three children together: son Kayin, 16, and twins Uche and Clara, 13. Despite the pain, the broadcaster said her children continue to give her strength as she moves forward.
