‘The Young and the Restless” Courtney Hope Pre-Celebrates 10 Years of Sally Spectra
Courtney Hope celebrates nearly 10 years as Sally Spectra across ‘Bold and Beautiful’ and ‘Young and Restless,’ marking the milestone with Sally’s wedding and birth on Y&R.
Courtney Hope‘s journey on CBS soaps didn’t start on The Young and the Restless, where she just became a blushing on-screen bride who experienced a soap rite of passage by giving birth right after taking her vows. Instead, Hope and the 21st-century version of Sally Spectra began their daytime life on The Bold and the Beautiful.
In 2017, B&B brought on the next generation of Spectras, helmed by Sally, the niece of the original Sally Spectra, one of soap’s most flamboyant characters, played by the late Darlene Conley from 1988 to 2006, per TV Insider. Courtney Hope made her debut as the fiery redhead and namesake of the original Sally on January 31, meaning she will celebrate a decade of bringing her signature character to life in just a few short months.
Hope also has the distinction of being one of the rare soap performers to play the same popular character on not just one, but two soaps. In 2020, she brought Sally to Y&R, where she just became a daytime bride for the first time as Sally married Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).

The actress took to Instagram once the excitement of Sally’s wedding and birth subsided to express her joy and gratitude for the privilege of playing Sally at such an exciting time.
“What an eventful couple of weeks!” Hope wrote, alongside a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos from the wedding. “To say I feel grateful and honored to be a part of this story would be an understatement. Knowing that in just a couple of months it will be my 10-year anniversary of co-piloting Sally Spectra’s life, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate her journey.”
Hope reflected on how far her character had come, from a schemer knocking off designs and pretending she was dying to keep a man to a wife and mother welcomed into the hearts of Genoa City residents.
“To witness how far she’s come, her chapters that have closed, her tragedies, her triumphs, her lessons, and the new doors that are opening for her have been and continue to be some of the greatest gifts and privileges of my career,” Hope continued, adding, “Thank you all for watching and supporting! It’s a wild thing we do every day, telling these stories that are constantly evolving, but knowing it brings something of value to your lives makes it worth every second! ”
