Alex Rodriguez Says Jennifer Lopez Has ‘Truly Lived the American Dream’

When you think of a power couple, it’s hard not to think about Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez — and while they both have had successful careers, they also each show an immense amount of support for one another and understand how far they’ve come.

The former baseball player, 44, recently sat down with WWD to touch on many different subjects, including his soon-to-be wife, 50, and all that he’s learned from her, especially from the business side of things. “What I have learned from her is again, here is someone who comes from very humble beginnings, right here in the Bronx. And she has truly lived the American dream,” Alex told the outlet. “She has an incredible arc in her life through ups and downs. Right now, even though she is a triple threat in the world with her talent, what I know her for is being a good partner, mother and daughter.”

“She’s just a Bronx girl. She just loves being home,” the ESPN analyst added. Earlier this year, the happy couple announced their engagement after dating for two years. They soon will be officially blending their family, as Alex has two daughters — Natasha, 14, and Elle, 11 — from a previous relationship with Cynthia Scurtis. On the other side of things, the singer shares twins Maximilian and Emme, 11, with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.

The famous family is also quite open and honest one another, even when it comes to each other’s style. In fact, Alex revealed that his eldest sometimes has an opinion about his outfits. “Some [days are] better than others,” he joked. “Before you walked in here, I had my 14-year-old daughter on FaceTime. She said, ‘Dad, untuck your shirt. Pull down your socks.’ Story of my life — yeah.”

“I’m less of a designer guy and more of a fit guy,” the TV personality explained. “I’m a big guy. I’m 6-3, over 230 lbs. For me, it’s all about fit and comfort. Sometimes, if a brand costs a lot less, but fits better, I’m great with that.” Makes sense! Alex actually showed off a bit of his style when he walked the runway at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Fashion Show earlier this week.
