While many celebs love high-intensity and sweat-filled workouts, Connie Britton isn’t afraid to admit that she doesn’t. In fact, the Dirty John star just opened up about her preferred diet and exercise routines in a candid new interview for Health‘s January cover story.

“I don’t love the gym,” the 51-year-old actress said while explaining that she used to love “high-impact aerobics and calisthenics” when she was younger. “But now I really love a mind-body-spirit kind of a workout, and that’s more easily done outside — swimming, hiking, or yoga.”

While outdoor activities are some of her favorite things to do, Connie admitted that meditation has also been a huge part of her adult life. “Meditation, breathing, and connecting to whatever is my own version of my center,” she explained. “It can be 10 minutes; it can be in the car while I’m driving or just taking a deep breath before I’m about to shoot a scene.”

Not only does her new wellness routine clear her mind and soul, but she feels it helps with her appearance, too! “I really believe it helps with wrinkles,” she said. “We can change our body chemistry through meditation.” Sign us up!

As we all know, the effectiveness of exercise and fitness depends on diet as well. The Friday Night Lights alum admitted that as she got older, her eating habits also changed.

“Raw food really worked for me, and so did the Blood Type Diet,” Connie said while noting that she has also tried cleanses. “But now that I’ve turned 50, it’s not so easy. I used to be able to exercise or change what I eat, and in a few days I was good, but that doesn’t happen anymore.”

Connie is a firm believer that the way you eat is important. The actress said that she always tries her best to “stay away from sugar” because it “really is a drug for me.” The ginger-haired beauty dished that eating sugar not only impacts her weight, but it impacts her body chemistry.

However, Connie did reveal her biggest weakness and guilty pleasure. “If I could have a chocolate chip cookie or really anything that is chocolate, I would be a very happy camper.” Same, girl!
