Fast forward 25 years and The Golden Girls is still one of the most iconic shows ever to be on TV! But what we can't seem to get out of our heads after all this time is the series' memorable theme song from the beginning of each episode!

"Thank You for Being a Friend" was the catchiest tune of the late 80s and early '90s — and today, we're taking a look back at its lyrics that we, fortunately, get to listen to time and time again when reruns are on. What makes the hit even more enjoyable is knowing the lyrics are actually true — the girls were the best of friends both on and off the air! "It was the four of them against the world," author of the book Golden Girls Forever Jim Colucci told Closer Weekly in a previous exclusive interview. "They got overwhelmed by this whirlwind show, but they helped each other through it. It was a thing of solidarity — they were in this together."

"If it had been four others, it might have been a good show, but not a great show," he added of their bond. "It was magic in every way." We couldn't agree with you more, Jim!
