Hoda Kotb Reveals What She Told Her Trainer: ‘I Want to Get on the Floor and Get Up 100 Times’

With wedding planning in full swing, Hoda Kotb can’t help but picture herself walking down the aisle. As she stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this week, the beloved Today host revealed the fitness routine she requested from her trainer in order to get herself in tip-top shape ahead of the big day.

“I actually, for the first time, got a trainer,” Hoda, 55, shared during her appearance on the January 29 episode. “And he said, ‘What do you want to do?'” she continued. “I said, ‘I want to get down on the floor and get up 100 times. I want to be able to lift up 35 pounds and throw 35 pounds in the air.'”

Hoda, who is currently engaged to longtime love Joel Schiffman, told Ellen, 61, she just wanted to be taught a handful of routines. “He goes, ‘Do you want toned arms or toned’ — I said, ‘No, I don’t care. I want to get down and get up, get down and get up,” she explained. “And that’s what I’ve been doing! And I think it’s funny, when you want to do something, your energy kicks in.”

The I Really Needed This Today author also gave Ellen some juicy details on her upcoming nuptials. “We’re planning it. I think we’re going to do it in the fall and I think it’s going to be super simple, no big deal, we’ll bring some friends. We’ll probably be on a beach somewhere.”

Since getting engaged to her financier beau while vacationing together in November 2019, Hoda has never seemed happier. In fact, the TV personality — who began dating Joel around summer 2013, and shares adopted daughters Haley Joy, 2, and Hope Catherine, 10 months, with him — told Ellen she even feels more smitten. Aww!

“I can’t believe now how different I feel since that moment,” Hoda gushed. “I thought we were in love and love is love. So what? But I did feel different the minute he proposed.”

Hoda, Joel and their two kiddos aren’t the only ones looking forward to the couple’s big day. Joel’s daughter, Kyle, whom he shares with his ex-wife, revealed she can’t wait for the day when Hoda walks down the aisle to her dad.

“It’s great to finally see just the two of them are so happy and they love doing the same thing,” Kyle, 25, gushed to Closer just weeks after the couple announced the news of their engagement. “They just enjoy each other’s time and they’re perfect for each other and I love them both so much!”
