James Woods Confirms He’s Not Retiring: “The Reports Are Greatly Exaggerated”

Don't worry, James Woods fans, the actor is not retiring anytime soon! He confirmed that his career in showbiz is not coming to an end in a candid Twitter post on Sunday, Oct. 8, a few days after a real estate listing for one of his Rhode Island vacation homes suggested otherwise.

"The reports of my retirement are greatly exaggerated… (? to Mark Twain)," the 70-year-old actor wrote on the social media platform. Everyone was convinced he was retiring after his real estate agent, Allen Gammons, basically said it in the description next to James' $1.4 million vacation home.

According to The Providence Journal, the statement shared that James — who graduated high school in Warwick — was trying to "simplify his life" by selling "his many real estate holdings on both coasts" after announcing his retirement from the entertainment industry. Uh, that's awkward….

Apparently, Gammons called James to read the listing over the phone, and when he did so, James was distracted and not fully listening. "I was not paying attention,” he said. "I somehow didn’t hear 'retirement.'" Well, James was clearly the only one who missed the keyword.

Even so, James — who is most known for his roles in Family Guy, Ray Donovan, Shark, Justice League Action, and more — won't let his nearly 50-year-long career come to a close in a real estate listing. "No actor retires from the film business," he said. "In my 30s, I could play a sharp young lawyer. In my 40s, I could play an accomplished family man under attack."

"My career is not going to end in a real estate announcement. It’s just funny," he told The Washington Post. "My agent said, 'Are you retired?' I said, 'I don’t think so, am I?'" We can't wait to see what projects James will be working on next!
