Mark Hamill Jokes That Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Should Have Named Royal Baby After Him
It was worth a shot! Mark Hamill apparently attempted to get Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to name their first child after him, but it didn’t exactly work out.
The 67-year-old took to Twitter on Wednesday, May 8, to share a photo of himself speaking to the Duke of Sussex, 34, and his brother, Prince William, on a movie set. “Here’s me with William & Harry pitching the idea of naming any future royal baby after their favorite #StarWars actor,” the actor wrote.
“Happy they chose Archie HARRISON Mountbatten-Windsor, but regret not being more specific. Should have pitched favorite #StarWars actor WHO PLAYED LUKE,” he joked. Take a look at the photo tweet below!

There’s no word yet if the royal pair chose the name for baby Archie after legendary Star Wars actor Harrison Ford, but fans were still loving the tweet. “His Royal Highness Prince Chewbacca of Great Britain,” one person joked in the comments section. Another added, “I’ve known Three Lukes and, because I’m blunt, I’ve asked if they were named after Luke Skywalker within an hour of meeting them. Two of them were. They’re not named after you, but the character you perfected. Not royalty but not bad.”
Everyone can’t stop talking about the pair’s new baby boy, especially folks in Hollywood. Amy Poehler, whose 10-year-old son she shares with ex-husband Will Arnett is also named Archie, couldn’t help but to poke fun at the situation.
“I love that name — I’ve been a fan for 10 years,” the Parks and Recreation alum, 46, joked to People. “So welcome to the club!”
While there hasn’t been a confirmation from Harry and the former actress, 37, about the reason behind their baby’s name, it does have ties to the late Princess Diana. The little one will now share a name with Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll, the chief of Clan Campbell. Archibald was a Scottish nobleman, politician, and peer, and a notable ancestor of Diana.
Mark shouldn’t feel so let down though. If the couple do decide to have another baby, there’s always a chance they go with their other favorite actor from the science fiction franchise!
