Meghan McCain Praises Mom Cindy For Her ‘Love’ And ‘Strength’ Following Dad John’s Death

When Meghan McCain‘s father, John McCain, died in late August 2018 after battling brain cancer, The View star relied on her husband, Ben Domenech, and her family to get her through that tough time in her life. And, in a touching new Instagram post, Meghan, 34, specifically thanked her mom, Cindy McCain, for all of her unwavering support over the past five months.

“I love you, Mom @cindymccain,” Meghan wrote in her Sunday, Jan. 13 post. “Grateful for your love, strength, never-ending support, and always knowing how to perfectly wear black turtlenecks and Chanel. You’re the toughest and most resilient of us all. Thank you for selflessly guiding us through and being a bright light in so much dark.”

Alongside her sweet message, Meghan shared a photo of her parents together and another of herself with her mom. “She’s a classy, beautiful, and strong woman! This apple didn’t fall away from the tree!” one fan commented on the post, and another wrote, “I am so sorry for your loss about John McCain. He was a wonderful father and a wonderful husband.”

While recently recalling John’s funeral on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Meghan opened up about giving a speech in front of her father’s friends and family and said that she could “never do anything like that again.”

“It was so intense. I’ve never taken drugs, but it’s what I imagine being on drugs would have been like,” Meghan explained. “When I was walking up I was like, ‘I can’t believe my father wanted me to do this.’ I really wanted to be in the moment. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life and by far the hardest and worst.”

At the funeral, Meghan broke down crying once she saw her father’s casket. “I was so heartbroken and dead,” she said. “So I’m really happy just to be here and alive.”
