The Young and the Restless star Elizabeth Hendrickson has set fans’ minds ablaze by revealing she almost joined the cast of the Peacock streaming soap opera Days of Our Lives.

The actress was interviewed on the SOAPY podcast, during which time she discussed leaving The Young and the Restless and joining General Hospital. During the conversation, Hendrickson revealed that, prior to appearing on General Hospital, she was in discussions to join Days of Our Lives.

“I was going to Days, and the day that it kind of all fell apart was the day that Frank Valentini called me,” Hendrickson shared.

While Hendrickson didn’t give any more details about the role she was up for, she did provide a bit of a timeline for when this would have taken place.

The actress shared that Frank called her and was offering her a part as the District Attorney. She initially considered turning it down due to the intense nature of the ‘legal jargon’ involved. “I was like, Frank, I cannot play a DA,” she shared.

“He was like ‘we really just need someone to come in and do this,'” she explained. Thus, she accepted the part, and the turnaround was quick. “It was starting the next day literally,” she shared. “I remember it was like 75 pages of just court lawyer jargon.”

The actress began appearing on-screen on General Hospital beginning on May 29, 2018.

Looking at the timeline, fans referenced Days of Our Lives super-fan Jason47‘s production schedule database to see what time period was being filmed around the time that Hendrickson was up for a role.

According to Jason 47, when Hendrickson began airing on-screen, they were filming episodes that aired in November of 2018; however, when she began filming General Hospital, it would’ve been weeks prior, meaning the episodes she may have originally been in the running for would’ve aired sometime between October and November of 2018.

Looking back at what characters made their debut, or were recast around this period of time, two roles jumped out at fans as potential roles that Hendrickson could’ve played.

On October 26, 2018, Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) returned to town, with Abigail DiMera as the other potential, as Marci Miller exited the role on November 19, 2018, only to be recast with Kate Mansi on November 29, 2018.

While Hendrickson may not have been in the running for either role, fans continue to wonder how things would’ve been different had the situation worked out and she made her way to Salem.

Fans can listen to Hendrickson’s complete appearance on SOAPY here.

Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on Peacock.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS and streams weeknights on Paramount+.
