Meryl Streep Set To Become Grandma For First Time As Daughter Mamie Gummer Is Pregnant

Meryl Streep has been on the big screen for decades, racking up Oscar nomination after Oscar nomination. But because of all that some folks usually forget that she’s a married woman with kids and not an acting robot that was created in a laboratory in an undisclosed location. Hey, that’s a real theory. And while Meryl has been married to Don Gummer since 1978 and has four children, it is only now that the 69-year-old will be a grandmother for the first time.

According to Us Weekly, Mamie Gummer, Meryl’s 35-year-old daughter and second oldest of her kids, has confirmed that she is pregnant with her first child. That means good old Meryl will soon be receiving a lot of gifts that say “World’s Best Grandma” and “Out of the Way! Grandma’s Here!” Meryl will enjoy it at first, but soon she will despise these gifts and hold a major grudge against all who get her these gifts. Most likely.

Mamie is currently engaged to producer Mehar Sethi, this coming after Mamie split from her now-ex-husband Benjamin Walker in 2013. Years before Mamie and Benjamin split Meryl was all about their relationship, as Mamie said at the time, “Mom move lives him!” Well, things change in an instant, that’s for sure.

While Meryl and Mamie look eerily alike, Mamie also acts just like her mother. Sure, she probably won’t reel in the accolades like her mom has, but she has starred in her share of television shows and movies including the film Ricki and the Flash in which she starred with alongside her mother.

No word yet as to why Mamie (whose actual name is Mary Willa) was nicknamed “Mamie” even though it sounds like something you would call your grandmother. And now Meryl has to think of another name she wants her first grandchild to call her.
