One day after Penny Marshall sadly died at age 75 on Monday, Dec. 17 of complications from diabetes, her sister, Ronny Marshall Hallin, has spoken out about the beloved Laverne & Shirley star’s final moments. “She was ready,” Ronny, 80, told Page Six on Tuesday, Dec. 18. “She always said, ‘I had a great life.'”

“Penny was great — I loved her,” Ronny shared, adding that her sister passed away “very” peacefully in her Hollywood Hills, CA home surrounded by her family. The news of Penny’s death comes just more than two years after the actress and Ronny’s older brother, Garry Marshall, passed away at age 81 in July 2016.

“Our family is heartbroken over the passing of Penny Marshall,” the Marshall family said in a statement to Closer. In Penny’s obituary, her family wrote: “Penny was a tomboy who loved sports, doing puzzles of any kind, drinking milk and Pepsi together, and being with her family. Penny was a girl from the Bronx, who came out West, put a cursive ‘L’ on her sweater, and transformed herself into a Hollywood success story.  We hope her life continues to inspire others to spend time with family, work hard, and make all of their dreams come true.”

In addition to playing Laverne on Laverne & Shirley, Penny was most known for directing Tom Hanks in 1988’s Big, which made her the first woman in history to helm a film that grossed more than $100 million at the box office. She also directed A League Of Their Own and Awakenings and starred on TV shows Murder Police andThe Odd Couple, just to name a few.

Penny will be greatly missed by all in Hollywood and around the world. Our thoughts remain with the entire Marshall family during this difficult time.
