The Obamas Pen Sweet Congratulatory Note to Newly Engaged Couple Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez

It seems like everyone can’t stop freaking out over Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez‘s engagement — including Barack Obama and Michelle Obama! The former MLB pro took to Instagram earlier this morning on Friday, March 22 to share a pic of a congratulatory note that he and his fiancée received from the former president and the former first lady.

“This means the world to us #44,” Alex, 43, captioned the post. The note — addressed to “Jennifer & Alex” — read, “Michelle and I just wanted to congratulate you on your engagement. Fans of both the beloved president and the handsome hunk couldn’t help but gush about the sweet gesture. “What an honor to be sent a handwritten congratulations card. You two are pretty amazing,” one user wrote in the comments section of Alex’s post. “Because real love knows what real love is! This is what is all about! Best wishes always,” wrote another.

The power couple took the world by storm when they announced the big news of their engagement on Saturday, March 9 with a close-up photo of the duo holding hands as Jen sported a massive diamond on her left ring finger. Alex asked for the Second Act star’s hand in marriage while relaxing on the beach during a romantic trip to the Bahamas.

Since going public with their romance in May 2017, Jen, 49, and A-Rod have dealt with lots of pressure from fans to get married. This past December, the “Jenny From The Block” singer revealed that she understands why fans get attached to their relationship. “Everyone wants a fairy tale. They all want a romantic comedy, a happy ending. We all do,” she admitted to USA Today. “But it’s not a movie, even if you see us on Instagram or on the shows.”

But even though fans might not have known it, marriage was always the plan for Jen and her beau. A source close to the pair even shared that they just wanted to make sure their relationship was right for their families — Jen is a mom to her 11-year-old twins, Max and Emme, while Alex is a dad to his daughters Natasha, 14, and Ella, 10.

“Marriage is something that became important to both of them and their kids,” a source told Us about the newly engaged lovebirds. “They know they want to make this commitment to forever together.” We are over the moon for Jen and Alex!
