Wendy Williams’ Closest Friends Are Reportedly ‘Rallying Around Her’ Amid Divorce From Kevin Hunter

While Wendy Williams may be heartbroken over her divorce, her friends and family apparently think it’s exactly what she needs. After news broke that The Wendy Williams Show host had served her husband and business partner, Kevin Hunter, with divorce papers on April 10, fans and friends were worried about how she was holding up.

“While the future is somewhat unclear, what is clear is that Wendy has a huge support system comprised of her staff, industry colleagues and family,” a source recently revealed to Us Weekly. “She is already receiving a ton of support, and everyone is rallying around her.” In fact, the insider dished that those closest to the 54-year old are allegedly thrilled that “she finally woke up,” adding that “this could be the best thing that’s ever happened to her personally and professionally.”

Sadly, the world wasn’t that shocked when Wendy and her personal rep announced that she had filed for divorce due to “irreconcilable differences.” Weeks before the announcement, Wendy defended her marriage from rampant rumors after the former radio personality was spotted multiple times without her diamond wedding ring.

The insider close to the former couple — who were married for over 21 years and share their 18-year-old son, Kevin Jr., together — told the outlet that when Kevin was served with papers at the TV studio where his wife tapes her syndicated talk show, he apparently walked around the set “with a folder” and joked, “The papers are in here.”

The heartbreaking news comes just weeks after Wendy candidly admitted that she had begun living in a sober house within the past few months to get her past addiction struggles under control. “Well, for some time now — and even today and beyond — I have been living in a sober house,” the brunette beauty confessed during a taping of her show. “You know I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in my past. I never went to a place to get the treatment. I don’t know how, except God was sitting on my shoulder.”

Kevin — who seemingly appeared to have his wife’s back — even opened up about the difficult living situation. “It is a family process,” he told Entertainment Tonight in mid-March. “Anybody that has to deal with this knows this a family process … and we are dealing with it.
