From 1967 to 1972, Al dated actress Jill Clayburgh after starring together in America, Hurrah.

He then went on to date Author! Author! costar Tuesday Weld, but the relationship was brief. Al’s quest for companionship continued.

Despite not getting along with Marthe Keller while filming 1977’s Bobby Deerfield at first, the pair ended up dating for two years.

The Academy Award winner met Diane on the set of 1971’s The Godfather. She opened up about her love for him and their instant spark.

“I was mad for him. Charming, hilarious, a nonstop talker,” she told People in June 2017. “There was an aspect of him that was like a lost orphan, like this kind of crazy idiot savant. And oh, gorgeous!”
