It’s Not Unusual for Alfonso Ribeiro to Be a Great Dad! Meet the TV Personality’s 4 Kids

He may have put “The Carlton” on the map, but Alfonso Ribeiro is a lot more than just an iconic dance move on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The sitcom legend is also an incredible father to four wonderful children: Sienna, Alfonso Jr., Anders and Ava.

The TV personality shares his eldest daughter, Sienna, with his ex-wife, Robin Stapler, and his three younger kids with spouse Angela Unkrich. The former couple welcomed Sienna in 2006, but after parting ways the following year, he wed Angela in 2012. The lovebirds expanded his family when son Alfonso Jr. was born in 2013, followed by Anders in 2015 and Ava in 2019.

Alfonso has made parenting his No. 1 priority since becoming a dad, but he’s raising his kids in a way that is a little different than most. Instead of confining his children to the classroom, the Catch 21 host loves teaching Sienna, Alfonso Jr., Anders and Ava about the world by traveling.

“I think travel is the greatest way to educate your family,” he exclusively told Closer in 2019. “Yes, you can read about things in books, but nothing lands and sticks with you throughout your life than personal experience.”

Alfonso Ribeiro’s Eldest Daughter Sienna

Alfonso and his first wife welcomed their daughter in 2003. The TV star once described his eldest child as “smart, beautiful, motivated, funny [and] passionate.” Alfonso also praised Sienna for making “everyone around her happier” when she graduated from high school in June 2021. “My baby girl Sienna just graduated from high school,” he marveled on Instagram. “I’m so proud. She’s gonna go do big things in her life.”

Sienna went off to college, but Alfonso revealed she’s simultaneously juggling an acting career. Speaking with Closer, the Silver Spoons alum said, “Sienna definitely has the bug.” Though his girl is currently “auditioning and working,” Alfonso said he’s “hands-off” when it comes to her journey in showbiz.

“She doesn’t want to be Alfonso Ribeiro’s kids whose working — she wants to do it herself,” he told Closer. “I’m always peeking in, but I’m allowing her to find her place in what she wants to do.”

Alfonso Ribeiro’s Son Alfonso Jr.

Born in 2013, Alfonso Jr. — also known as AJ — is the first child Alfonso and Angela welcomed together. So far, the young boy has a passion for sports, as he plays baseball in a kid’s league. Alfonso revealed how natural his son is at sports when he shared a video of AJ up to bat.

“AJ had his 2nd baseball game today. He had a triple and a home run. He also pitched 1 inning. He had 3 strikeouts in 3 batters. Then he casually walked off into my arms like he’d done it a thousand times,” the proud dad penned on Instagram in March 2021.

Aside from baseball, AJ enjoys playing golf as well. “Golf morning. (He pitched this to a foot of the hole),” Angela wrote on social media in August 2020 alongside a clip of AJ swinging a golf club. She added the hashtag, “like father like son,” at the end of her post.

Alfonso Ribeiro’s Son Anders

Another boy! In 2015, Alfonso had his third child and second with Angela. “Momma and baby are doing great,” the proud dad told Us Weekly at the time. “The entire family thanks you for your warm wishes on this special day!!”

Like his big brother, Anders also makes numerous cameos on his father’s social media platforms. In April 2021, Alfonso uploaded a cute pic of his son smiling and wrote, “He is so special, funny, loving, smart, cool, athletic, [has a] heart of gold and [is] just plain awesome. Love him so much.”

Alfonso Ribeiro’s Daughter Ava

The youngest kid in the Ribeiro family is little Ava, who was born in May 2019. “Ava Sue Ribeiro finally decided to send @mrsangelaribeiro1 to the hospital on Mother’s Day and came into our world early yesterday morning,” Alfonso captioned a lovely photograph of his baby girl following her birth. “Both Ava and Mommy are doing great. Thank you, Dr. Jason Rothbart, for an amazing job.”

Since completing their brood, Alfonso can’t get enough of his baby girl. To celebrate Ava’s second birthday in May 2021, the actor proved how much she means to him when he threw her a pig-themed extravaganza.

“Never thought I would have a pig party for Ava’s birthday, but yes we did,” Alfonso quipped. “My little Ava turned 2 yesterday and she’s so awesome. She’s gonna be a very special girl. Love her to the moon and back.”

Watching his kids grow up with Angela by his side has been a dream come true for Alfonso.

“I’m most proud of my children and proud of my relationship with my wife — proud of being a good husband,” the dad of four told Closer in May 2024. “For me, my pride comes from others, not from my doing stuff.”
