Kelly Clarkson said farewell to her daytime talk show fans with a finale episode jam-packed with incredible performances and nostalgic moments. Clarkson performed a final batch of “Kellyoke” requests, and one in particular is generating a viral response. She sang “Golden” from the Netflix series KPop Demon Hunters, and it was the perfect way to end her seven-season run on daytime television.
After the last episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show aired, her cover of “Golden” was shared on the show’s social media pages as well as YouTube. In just four hours, the post on Instagram received over 335,000 “likes” and 6,600 comments.
In the caption of the Instagram post, it was noted that “Golden” was “The most requested Kellyoke EVER!!”
On TikTok, the video of the performance quickly racked up over 1.2 million views, and the Facebook post had nearly 60,000 likes in just a few hours.
The video also received almost 100,000 views on YouTube within the first few hours it was live, and fans were in awe of Clarkson’s incredible performance.
One YouTube comment read, “When American Idol found the best singer on the first try.” That was a reference to Clarkson’s Season 1 American Idol win back in 2002.
Several commenters on YouTube pointed out that Clarkson not only sang the song beautifully, but she did it in the original key. This is something fans haven’t seen other mainstream singers manage to do well.
“It’s crazy how she makes everything she sings sound effortless, even when it’s one of the hardest songs. She really is one of the greatest singers of all time,” another fan wrote on YouTube.
A fan added, “For the first time, I can actually enjoy a live performance of this song without worrying about that high note.”
Another added, “You can see the intense focus and seriousness on her face, showing just how difficult the song really is. But singing it in the original key, she was absolutely magnificent, even nailing the Korean parts. Her talent is truly mind-blowing!”
Fans all seemed to agree that having Clarkson sing “Golden” as the final “Kellyoke,” at the very end of The Kelly Clarkson Show, was the perfect way to wrap it all up. Many admitted they will miss her show, but she definitely went out on a high note that reminded viewers why she’s become the superstar she is.
