Billie Lourd Shares Emotional Message 3 Years After Losing Mom Carrie and Grandma Debbie

Always in her heart. It has been three years since Billie Lourd not only lost her mother Carrie Fisher, but her grandma Debbie Reynolds as well — and she shared quite the emotional message on Christmas.

The 27-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday, December 25, to share a throwback photo with her mom and grandma. “Happy holidays! (But also sad/emotional/weird/stressful holidays!) Sending my love to everyone who has lost someone they loved and is missing them a little extra today. I see you,” the young actress wrote. “It’s okay if everything ain’t all merry and bright. It can be a mix of all of it. And it’s all okay.”

“Feel all the feelings — the good and the not so good. Eat something delish they used to love,” the American Horror Story costar continued. “Put on one of their favorite songs. Tell a story about them. Cry about them. Call one of their friends you haven’t talked to in a while. Be kind and patient with yourself. Don’t grieve in silence. Fans were all about the post, as they took to the comments section to respond. “I needed to hear this today. Sending you love and light as you go through the same,” one person reacted. “This gave me all the feels,” another added.

The late Star Wars actress passed away on December 27, 2016, after suffering a heart attack. Just one day later, her mother would die following a stroke. This isn’t the first time that Billie has opened up about her loved ones — back in November,  she touched on the impact that her mom’s death had on her, and how it continues to affect her.

“Losing my mom is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through. I lost my best friend,” Billie wrote in a personal essay for Time. “My little lady in the TV. My Momby. And I inherited this weird, intimidating thing called her legacy. Suddenly I was in charge of what would come of her books, her movies and a bunch of other overwhelming things. I was now the keeper of Leia.”

We won’t ever forget Carrie or Debbie, as they will continue to live on in their work and in stories passed down from their family, friends and fans.
