Carmen Dell’Orefice, 83, Opens Up About Working as the World’s Oldest Supermodel
At 83-years-old, Carmen Dell’Orefice's modeling career has never been more flourishing.
“I have had more magazine covers in the last 25 years than I have had in my whole elongated career. Today I am in a territory that business considers unmarketable: age and white hair. Slowly, however, I started to own that territory little by little because I stood up for age,” the supermodel revealed in a new interview with 'NEW YOU' magazine.
In the sit-down Carmen, who refers to models as "essentially bodies-for-hire," revealed it hasn't always been easy to maintain the type of figure expected of women working in the fashion industry.

“I eat to my appetite and don’t count calories. I want to enjoy food passionately. That is the creativity of living. I could have gotten into trouble with food in my lifetime because I love to eat but I was given a free pass because I metabolize food well… I’ve had my issues with ice cream when I was younger," she said.
The star — who made her modeling debut at age 15 on the cover of 'Vogue' in 1946 — also admitted her career isn't the only thing that's gotten better with age.
“Of course [I still have a sex life], why would I give that up? If you have a Rolls Royce and it is up on wheels, you go in with the key and every now and then turn on the motor to make sure the motor is running. So when you want to drive the car, it is all oiled and ready!” Carmen told 'NEW YOU.'
