Charlize Theron and Sean Penn Break Off Engagement!

After nearly a year-and-a-half of dating, A-list couple Sean Penn and Charlize Theron have reportedly called off their engagement.

According to Us Weekly, it was the 39-year-old actress who threw the towel in after the duo appeared at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Though Sean, 54, and Charlize had never formally announced their engagement in the first place, they reportedly got engaged during a trip to Paris in December 2014.

The timing is especially weird, considering the Mad Max: Fury Road beauty gushes about him in the June 2015 issue of Elle UK.

"Putting aside that he's my partner, he's the love of my life," she said. "For the first time, I felt that my work was really bleeding into my life and that made it hard."

This would have been the third marriage for Sean. He was once married to Madonna and Robin Wright, with whom he has two children. Though never engaged before, Charlize, who's mom to son Jackson, was previously in a nine-year relationship with actor Stuart Townsend. They split in 2010.
